Erdoğan’s choice: Reform or religion?

After revealing the first nine on Nov. 6, Prime Minister Ahmet Davutoğlu unveiled seven more transformation programs of the government’s ambitious reform strategy at a press conference on Dec. 18.

In my latest Hurriyet Daily News (HDN) column, I explain why it is a complete waste of time to discuss the second part of the structural reform package, which was announced by PM Ahmet Davutloglu late last week. Anyway, as usual, you can read the whole thing at the HDN website.

I don’t have much to add, except a small comment for my friends at Trusted Sources, or for anyone else who is subscribed to their reports and has a photographic memory: I did not change the quote on the first page of the report, but I do apologize nonetheless for the “slight tampering”. As an American philosopher (and ping pong player and football star and Việt Nam veteran and entrepreneur and investor and inventor and many many things more) once said, that’s all I have to say about thaaat :)  But “the aspiring Sultan” really made me laugh, I should say:):):) HUSH HUSH….

BTW, I am flying to London tomorrow morning and will be there until Sunday noon. So if you are in town and would like to meet up for coffee, lunch, brunch, dinner, beer, weed (no, not really, we can do that legally at the IMF-WB meetings this spring), etc, let me know…
