Turkey: I see debt people
In my latest Hurriyet Daily News (HDN) column, I argue (with data, as usual) that despite the recent pullback in credit growth, debt is still an important issue in Turkey. I show why low stocks of debt are misleading, and that several indicators point to a growing problem. Anyway, you can read the whole thing at the HDN website.
I don’t have anything to add to the column, except that it is a substitute column, which I had to write very quickly, like in a hour or two. Therefore, the wording/language turned out to be kind of awkward in a couple of places; apologies for that. And if you are wondering why I had to write another column, there is sort of an explanation in my previous post.
Have a great weekend…
